A CHRISTIAN EYE ON POLITICS
ARTICLE QUOTE:
"...Long-standing British attitudes which have stood this nation in good stead for hundreds of years are being systematically eroded and destroyed by wooly-minded permissive liberals who - if they had been around at the time of Adolf Hitler - would have plainly brought Great Britain to Nazi enslavement, such is their passion for refusing to say what is right or wrong, or good or evil."
From the BBC News website of 5th January, 2007 comes the following report:
"A Christian Union group banned from student facilities is taking legal action under the Human Rights Act.
Exeter University Evangelical Christian Union was suspended from the student guild and had a bank account frozen. The guild decided on the measures because the group asked members to sign a statement of religious belief.
Similar groups have been accused of discrimination against non-Christians and gay people. The union is seeking a judicial review at the High Court.
The case could have implications for religious groups across the UK.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has said moves against the Christian Unions are wrong. Dr Rowan Williams said the refusal by some student unions to recognise evangelical Christian groups looked like a "fear of open argument".
Dr Williams said that while the views of evangelicals on the issue of homosexual sex may be "embarrassing" to liberal Christians, traditional values should not be compared to holocaust denial or racial bigotry.
As well as Exeter, the Christian Union at the University of Birmingham faced a similar suspension of a bank account and exclusion from free use of student union premises.
Similar action is also said to have been considered against Christian Unions at Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt University and some London medical schools.
The student guild at Exeter University says that the Christian Union's equal opportunities policies are being "audited".
The Christian Union says its meetings are open to all, but members are asked to sign a statement of belief in Jesus as their God and saviour and officials to sign a more comprehensive statement of belief..."
This report highlights the increased persecution which is now coming upon British Christians in a society which appears hell-bent on taking permissive and politically-correct "values" to absurd lengths.
It is high time that the British government stood up, adopted a bit of 'backbone' and plainly told the liberal permissive brigade that they have now turned themselves into a plainly subversive element within British society, an element which is seeking to destroy free speech wherever it finds it. Moreover, long-standing British attitudes which have stood this nation in good stead for hundreds of years are being systematically eroded and destroyed by wooly-minded permissive liberals who - if they had been around at the time of Adolf Hitler - would have plainly brought Great Britain to Nazi enslavement, such is their passion for refusing to say what is right or wrong, or good or evil.
Undoubtedly, some of these liberal subversives would have announced that Nazi Propaganda minister Josef Goebbels was simply expressing his own point of view and that we should not judge. Certainly we know that the foundations of this evil ideology are firmly rooted in Marxism and many of these people are admirers of that ideological tyrant, Karl Marx.
These people appear to live in their own world in which most everything is a plain gray colour, and everything therein should just be "nice," they are always opposed to challenge and their only true creed is compromise. These people can sound so eminently reasonable yet they are subversives who would impose one standard of 'morality' upon all and that would be amorality, in other words, a complete denial of all decent and accepted standards of morality; this is their form of neutralism. It might sound pleasant, it might sound placid but these people point to the path of utter Nihilism, that is, the doctrine of Nothingness; 'Nothingness' states that nothing can be known and nothing is worth striving for, therefore do not strive for anything. But we must remember that the original 'Nihilists' were communists and that their supposed Nihilism was simply a ruse to lure people down the path of utter enslavement to total atheism and Marxist theory: they sought a path of creeping - but eventually -devastating social and philosophical paralysis in which only the Marxists believed in anything any more.
Are these modern moral neutralists really any different? For their path is now clear and Christians are a target whom they plainly want to pick off early.
The time is overdue for the British government to take a lead and to issue these prickly pragmatics with their marching orders!
