A Question I Was Asked:

Does Revelation 14:10 Say that Christ Will Actually Enter Hell to Observe Punishment?

It has often been said that the worst part of hell is the separation from God. I read in Revelation 14:10, speaking of the suffering and torment of those folk that worship the beast and his image, that "....He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the lamb" (vs10). This verse would indicate that angels and Christ are present in hell whilst this is happening. Could you give your comment and understanding of this verse, please?

Interesting question. My response would be, no, I don't think this would require Christ and the holy angels to actually be in Hell in order to see this/to be aware of this/to witness this. In like manner, I can look through the window of our home here to see how my dahlias are growing (I love growing dahlias) and I don't have to be standing directly next to them in order to see this. Also, we can 'see' major news items and sporting events on TV very vividly yet not be in the same place at all. In a sense, what I see on TV is happening 'in my presence' yet I could be located many thousands of miles away. This is even more the case for God who is aware of every thing that happens everywhere upon this earth because He is omnipresent. So, no, I don't think this would require Christ and His holy angels to actually be within the confines of Hell and I don't think they will ever be there. But it's a good question, and one that has never come my way before.
