Our Ministry's Keynote Scriptures

W e uphold the entirety of the inspired Word of God, of course, but three particular Scriptures could well be said to be our own 'keynote Scriptures.'

Let us look at them:

* Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses (Acts 13:38-39).

Christ Really is Sufficient

We seem to get many visitors to this website who are overly law-oriented; they accept Christ but have legalistic sensibilities, many of them struggle to accept the completeness and fullness of Christ's grace; they think there is more that they have to do. In some cases they still hanker after the law of Moses which, as this Scripture tells us, could never set us free from sin. This was the error of the Galatians which Paul railed about (Galatians 1). Please also note that Christ delivers us from "every sin," we are not simply set free from certain sins. There is no room here for guilt over any sin which one has already repented of.

Now let us look at the next Scripture:

* Freely you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:8b).

We Accept No Charges Nor 'Donations'

Okay, I admit I have just hacked off a bit of Matthew 10:8 there, but it is for a reason. I am frankly disgusted that so many ministries which uphold the Name of Christ then try to get hold of your hard-earned money! The New Testament gives a most serious warning about any attempt to make merchandise out of the Gospel yet that is what a few seem to do. This is one reason why we refuse to put any so-called "donation details" on our homepage (as countless ministries appear to do). We think that is unacceptable. Only once in thirteen years of this ministry have I made a financial need known, but only to those on our E Letter List. For those who like to regularly give support, we recommend supporting The Barnabas Fund (nothing to do with us), their work is truly excellent. Having said all of that, if one feels strongly motivated to contribute to us, that person could email me and perhaps we could accept a donation from them but nothing on a regular basis. Yes, my wife and I both live on a simple UK state pension, that is all, but this thing is an important principle to us.

* '...Contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.' (Jude 3).

We MUST Hold Onto the True Faith!

We live in a day where many prefer the liberal 'Gospel,' they don't want anything which makes too many demands upon them! Thousands of others accept perverted versions of the Gospel whether through the crafty practices of the cults or sects, the 'health, wealth and prosperity gospel,' or something else. So-called "Christian TV" - the last time I looked - was just filled with outrageous, greedy, money-motivated preachers. These dreadful examples are nothing to do with the true Faith yet thousands are getting taken in by these shysters with their "multi-million dollar ministries." We must all warn more strongly about these men (and a few women too).
