A world-wide travelling circus of leftist power-hungry zealots, never interested in the true facts, but only how evidence can be manipulated to appear as "fact"
On December 12th, 2008 the BBC News website reported,
"European Union leaders are said to be close to a compromise agreement in Brussels on how to achieve ambitious targets to fight global warming. They are trying to agree a mechanism to cut EU carbon emissions by 20% by 2020. Environmental groups have reacted angrily, criticising EU proposals on emissions trading which have emerged. Scientists say carbon dioxide emissions need to be cut by 25-40% by 2020 for there to be a reasonable chance of avoiding dangerous climate change." (BBC News website, December, 12th, 2008:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7778787.stm).If you are already wondering about the credentials of these "scientists," you must understand that this is a typical BBC news report. Being British, your writer is very used to them. The British Broadcasting Corporation is a very typically liberal, 'modern,' heavily socialist-influenced, monolithic and politically-correct institutional structure which continually seeks to extend it's influence beyond it's true (very minor) importance. It has thrown itself 'hook, line and sinker' behind 'climate change' extremism and it's 'science reporters' treat warming non-believers with disdain.
Currently, the travelling 'climate change' circus has been busily convening in Poland although their Polish hosts are not overly enthusiastic about the charade. As the whole world faces a severe economic downturn, many are questioning if 'global warmists' (all hot air and emotion but remarkably scientifically-ignorant), should even be listened to any more. But the problem is that this 'environmental concern' is now the new badge of the Left and they don't intend being easily thwarted, especially with major world political players like Blair, Brown and Obama on-board. The EU too is a left-leaning dictatorial monster which probably only deserves fame for it's incredible dishonesty and greed.
As John Brignell recently (March 2008), wrote,
"...The global warming hypothesis was a godsend to the New Left. It provided a means of attacking industry and capitalism through the one great essential to modern life, energy. Anyone who questioned the dogma was subject to insults and threats, including the appalling crudity and tastelessness of being likened to the holocaust deniers. All realistic proposals to develop workable sources of energy are bitterly opposed by the green network, while patently stupid ones, such as wind turbines, are sustained by regulation and subsidy, with the added bonus of bringing down the free market. There are related areas of activity, such as biofuels, which not only threaten the world with greenflation but also starvation.
Above it all towers the figure of Al Gore, hyper-hypocrite and monster of monetary concupiscence. If just occasionally he turned up on a bike rather than his private jet (or waived the six figure fee for his repetitious diatribes, or engaged in debate rather than diktat) he might entertain some credibility among the reasoning few. It is, however, in the nature of the faithful that they turn a blind eye to the defects of their demagogues. Perhaps the one fact that restores one's faith in humanity is that the blanket coverage of the propaganda has failed to stir a majority of the populace, though in the new age majorities have no power.
Global warming has now got to the stage where it is only maintained by media self-censorship. If the general public ever got to know of the scandals surrounding the collection and processing of data, or that there has been no detectable warming for the last decade, the whole movement would be dead in the water; but they don’t, so it isn’t. It has become the most powerful myth in human history, sending much of the world into a downward helix of economic decline. It is a tenuous hypothesis supported by ill-found computer models and data from botched measurement, dubiously processed."
(Read John's entire article here )Brignell's wise comments sum up where we, at The Christian Hawk, stand on the global warming charade; perhaps the only comment we would challenge concerns John's comment that 'global warming' has become the "most powerful myth in human history," macro-evolution must surely wear that particular crown. Nevertheless, the 'global warmists' are now a world-wide travelling circus of leftist power-hungry zealots, never interested in the true facts, but only how evidence can be manipulated to appear as "fact," pursuing probably the most needless, idiotic and money-wasting goal ever invented. In company with Brignell, we believe that these people were probably busily dreaming up some new strategy - any strategy!! - during the great Ronald Reagan/ Margaret Thatcher Conservative years when socialism appeared about ready to hear it's own death knell sound. 'Global Warming' is the socialist Left's last desperate cry for significance - it is determined to make the most of it!
As top British television documentary maker Martin Durkin has pointed out,
"...Temperature has risen, slightly, falteringly and gradually for about 150 years or so (even ‘warmer’ scientists can’t claim that this started because of us). The period before this rise has long been known as a ‘Little Ice Age’, from which we are evidently making a welcome recovery. We only started pumping out CO2 properly in the postwar boom, but what did temperatures do? In the postwar period they fell, till about the mid-70s. Then they went up again (just like they did at the beginning of the 20th Century, and then for the past ten years they’ve more or less flat-lined, decreasing slightly. Where is the evidence that humans are changing the climate? This is nothing but prejudice. It is not serious science...."
"It does not upset the left, or the greens at all, that they are proved wrong again and again and again. They are motivated by things other than Reason. Sadly, this is true also of people who, professionally, are meant to be intellectuals."

They seem to use and abuse to suit themselves. Prince Charles, for example, has become noted as being extremely "environmentally-friendly" and is 'very concerned' about warming. Yet the Prince notches up an incredible amount of air miles in the average year: what about all that carbon? He also uses a helicopter for even quite routine trips, almost never to be seen driving into his Gloucestershire home by car. This is not an isolated example, one continually seems to find such an extravagant approach among these enthusiasts with Al Gore's inconsistencies already being quite legendary. The feeling that a certain issue is being used to increase popularity and fame among certain individuals who - deep down - are not even personally fully-persuaded, is sometimes almost inescapable. They then presume to lecture the rest of us on how we should be protecting the environment!
