A Christian Eye on Politics

Its strange really. One can express an opinion about almost anything and it is deemed perfectly fine. I can express my dislike of gin, my dislike of women who frequent bars while unaccompanied, my dislike of cold, rainy weather, of hyenas, of TV political commentators who pretend to have all the answers despite being plainly under-researched, of Hollywood 'celebs' (ugh! - they are especially unpleasant, are they not?) But here in the United Kingdom, in the year of our Lord of 2008, if this column were to wholeheartedly attack homosexuals and the whole principle of homosexuality we would almost certainly be visited by the police! Within hours various people would be looking for ways to get our site closed down or - at the very least - 'filtered.' Is that not amazing? Where does the centuries-old tradition of British freedom of speech stand in that?
The Liberals, who now largely control British society through their highly effective infiltration of the BBC, the government and the social services, have made public debate on certain issues virtually impossible, with this particular issue at - or very near - the top of that list!
It has recently been stated that "the public debate on homosexuals and homosexuality took place years ago, its time to move on..." You've guessed it: That comment came from a self-confessed social liberal. It is, of course, entirely incorrect; the public have never been allowed any sort of debate on this issue whatsoever; the liberals had control of this doctrine from the very beginning and protected it from public debate just as a cat protects her new-born kittens. It was kept firmly out of the public domain with all relevant decisions (whether in parliament or in the social services) being taken by entrenched liberals. Now - rather like abortion - any who might think of encouraging a public debate on the subject are quickly attacked as being 'socially destructive,' "seeking to cause discrimination" and/or "clearly extreme right-wing."
So if we expressed our view of the typical modern "coming out" sort of homosexual, we would be in trouble. This despite the fact that probably 94% of the British people would agree with that view. Frankly, I don't think that a lot of people who claim to support homosexuality are anything of the sort, they are political supporters of Marxist social theory, confirmed left-wing agitators; they want to see the destruction of modern western society and of Capitalism and will support any movement which can be perceived as having a useful role in undermining the present western social and political status quo: This is where they are coming from, and make no mistake about that.
There is, of course, a genuine homosexual. Such people will usually protest that they never wanted to be that way and would change it tomorrow if they could. It is quite easy to be highly sympathetic to such people, there is now quite strong evidence, for instance, that boys with several older brothers may well have to struggle with this issue at some stage during their lives. Moreover it is also now very well documented that the modern western male sperm count is very low compared to the figure of about two generations ago; this is fact and it will necessarily tend to make modern men somewhat less masculine than they once were. Causes? The finger has been pointed at 'xeno-oestrogens' (much too big a subject to get into here, but Mike deHavilland Parker's article on 'xeno-oestrogens' is here).
So these are very real issues about which more is becoming understood all the time. In such areas one can be sympathetic, one can show compassion. However the aggressive and progressive Marxist-inspired social liberal does not wish to be detained by such points and they have little sympathy with those homosexuals or bi-sexuals who are in private turmoil - they much prefer the 'in your face' and 'coming out' sort of homosexual who wishes to emblazon their "sexual orientation" on a grand banner for all to see. They much prefer the gay who wants to change society. They quickly threw their support behind these people and advanced their cause wherever possible - such people were/are political animals not truly overly-interested in 'sexual orientation' except where it can be used and exploited.
The highly-biased and leftist-coloured view of the homosexual is well-represented in such bastions of British liberalism as The Guardian newspaper, the entirety of the BBC, and just about any official directive or publication of the Social Services. In such hands these people are always represented as being of the very highest character and integrity and pillars of society; people who are inevitably trustworthy and always warm and caring. Yet - as stated earlier - one feels that perhaps 94% of the British people would not support that view of the typical homosexual. Still, liberals are never going to be swayed by such considerations.
